FROM HANDS-ON CRAFT TO DIGITAL DESIGN

My approach to digital design was built through decades of hands-on creative work. Long before photorealistic 3D visualization became my principal medium, I developed my skills through pencil drawing, technical illustration, airbrushing, painting, mural work and sign fabrication.

Working directly with physical materials gave me a practical understanding of proportion, depth, texture, colour, lighting and construction. It also taught me to consider how a design will be produced, assembled and experienced—not simply how it will appear in an initial presentation.

As design technology evolved, I carried that knowledge into a digital workflow. Today, I use 3D modelling and rendering to produce convincing visualizations with the realism and construction awareness that come from having worked on both sides of the process: designing the idea and understanding how it becomes a physical result.

My earlier work includes award-winning projects in signage, illustration and airbrushing. These foundations remain an important part of how I think, solve problems and create—and despite how far technology has taken my work, I’m still just as comfortable picking up a pencil and starting with a sketch.
